Annual Unscheduled Outage hits Nasdaq

In an outage reminiscent of January 2011 and May 2012 glitches, sometime after noon today, the Nasdaq trading system suffered an outage and the widely used trading platform was shut down. No time frame for a fix was provided to WNYC reporters who broadcast this story. According to a post on InvestorsHub, "Nasdaq OMX said it planned to reopen trading for a 5-minute quote-only period."

Update: The New York Times reported that the exchange was back in operation some time after 3p.

Glitch originally reported by WNYC.
